Picking up where The Geometrics: Volume 1 (New Media, New Methods, New Work) left off, Volume 2 explores the themes of experimentation, research and vision in relation to contemporary textiles. Volume 2 examines the creative process as a tool for investigation, innovation and developmental problem solving. The underlying curatorial vision builds upon a larger textiles theme of Timeless Textile Aesthetics, a constituent part of the Slow Textiles movement.

Each of The Geometrics is a designer, artist, maker and researcher. Themes of playfulness, mending, tactility, colour, shape and form abound in the work, which is at the cutting-edge of geometric textiles in the UK today.

The Geometrics: Volume 2 takes a multi-stranded approach, consisting of a brand new full-colour publication, studio exhibition, a series of Slow Textiles Group professional development workshops and a symposium.

The Geometrics is a project devised by Dr Emma Neuberg (Director of the Slow Textiles Group) and is curated by Neuberg and Daisy McMullan (independent curator and Chelsea Arts Club Trust research fellow). Together, they work to bring together textile practitioners to research, exhibit, publish and create. The long-term aim of The Geometrics is to progress and document the first ever anthology of geometrics in textiles in the UK.
